Access control for a textile container — Gdynia, Poland

Access control and fill measurement on one textile container. The deployment shows the system is not tied to one kind of container.

In Gdynia we equipped a textile container with both access control and fill-level measurement. An Offline SAC reader opens the door for authorised users, and a separate fill-level sensor measures the level inside.

Why textiles are a different case

Textile collection follows its own rules. The contents have real value, so it matters particularly who has access and when the container is opened. Access control limits unauthorised opening and theft of textiles, while fill monitoring shows when the container genuinely needs emptying.

The measurement itself is a further challenge. Textiles settle unevenly and can form an irregular surface, which makes fill-level measurement harder than with loose waste. The sensor used here works from an analysis of the spread of readings, so it copes better with the irregular surface of textiles and can determine the container's real fill level.

Access without coverage, measurement over the network

Access control runs Offline here: the permissions live in the reader, so opening the door needs no connection to a server, and the history of openings stays in the device and is read out on site. Measurement takes a separate path — the sensor sends its readings to iCober Cloud, where the operator sees when the container genuinely needs emptying.

The split has a practical benefit: coverage affects only the fill reporting, not the opening itself. Together the two devices make it possible to plan collection by actual fill level rather than by the calendar.

The video loads only after you click — your browser then connects to Google, which receives your IP address and may store data on your device.
