Waste Access Control for Multiple Fractions — iCober MultiLock
One device. Up to five fractions. One management system.
iCober MultiLock is a multi-fraction access control system for bin stores, multi-compartment enclosures and other places where several waste fractions sit in one location.
A single device can serve up to five independent fractions. The user picks the right fraction, presents a card, fob or phone, and the system authorises access and opens the matching flap.
One device can therefore serve many fractions, without a separate reader, power supply and control electronics for each of them.

How to open a flap
- Choose the fraction on the device panel.
- Hold the card, fob or phone to the reader, 2–5 cm away.
- Keep it there for about a second.
- Wait for confirmation: a signal on the device, and on a phone also a vibration.
- Green light — the lock of the chosen fraction is released. On the display version the screen reads OPEN.
- Red — no permission for this fraction, or the card is not registered. The display reads ACCESS DENIED.
Using a phone instead of a card requires the iCober Key app and NFC enabled.
Why MultiLock
Up to five fractions from one device
A single device can drive up to five independent locks, serving different waste fractions. Instead of fitting separate electronics in every container, one system can control access to all the fractions it serves. That means simpler installation, fewer parts needing service and lower running costs.
Better separation through recording
The user can access the authorised fractions, and each opening of a particular container is recorded. It is therefore known which fractions they use and how often. Simply knowing that openings are recorded can encourage more deliberate and more accurate sorting.
Less unauthorised use
The containers open only after the user is authorised. Every opening is recorded, which helps limit unauthorised use of the containers and gives better control over how they are used.
One panel for the whole system
In the Online version the devices can be managed from the panel in the platform. The same place holds information about users, permissions, opening history and alarms. There is no need to handle each device separately — the whole system can be managed from one place.
MultiLock matched to your needs
We can configure and adapt MultiLock to particular requirements — from basic access control for a few fractions to solutions with fill measurement, messages for the user and additional safeguards.
- A larger battery
- A colour display
- A speaker with spoken prompts
- Fill-level measurement
- DESFire EV3 credentials
- Changes to order

SAC or MultiLock — which to choose?
Both provide access control Online or Offline and, depending on the version, work with iCober Cloud, iCober Key and fill-level measurement. Both can be adapted to a particular container type. The main difference is how many locks they control and how the collection point is organised.
| Feature | SAC | MultiLock |
|---|---|---|
| Locks controlled | 1 | up to 5 |
| Fraction selection | — | the user selects the fraction on the panel |
| Best suited to | single bins and containers | bin stores, multi-compartment enclosures, multi-fraction points |
Choose SAC when you want to secure and monitor a single container. Choose MultiLock when one collection point has several fractions or independent compartments and you want to manage them with a single device.
API and integration
Connect the data from iCober devices with the system you already use. The Online version allows integration over an API — with no need to change your current software.
Data and analytics
Every opening adds to the event history. In iCober Cloud you can check who used the container and when, follow the state of the devices and analyse data from the whole installation.

The video loads only after you click — your browser then connects to Google, which receives your IP address and may store data on your device.
