iCober Cloud is a cloud analytics platform for managing devices, users and data.

The platform gathers data from iCober devices and systems — access control systems, fill-level sensors and other IoT devices — and presents it to the operator in one place.

iCober Cloud lets you manage devices and users, grant permissions, analyse how containers are used, prepare billing and plan waste collection. The data can also be exposed over an API and used in the customer's systems.

Data from different devices is brought together in one environment for day-to-day management and analysis of the system.

The operator can access information about devices, containers and users in one place. Depending on the configuration, that includes:

  • A location map — where the devices are and the state of each location
  • Opening history — who opened which container or fraction, when, and whether access was granted
  • Fill level — the current state of individual containers
  • Fill analysis and forecasting — the fill rate and when collection will be needed
  • Device state — battery level, signal quality and the time of the last communication
  • Alarms and notifications — the risk of overfilling, a low battery, loss of connectivity, and unusual access control events: repeated denied card attempts or suspicious use of the same card at different locations
  • Remote permission management — users, cards and other access credentials
  • Summaries and reports — by user, card, container or fraction
  • API — the option to integrate the data with the customer's systems
  • AI data analysis — support in interpreting fleet data

Data and analytics

iCober Cloud collects a history of events and measurements, so the operator can analyse not only the current state of the system but also how containers and devices have been used over time.

The opening history shows when, how often and by whom the containers were used. It can support access control, analysis of use, and preparing billing.

The fill history allows analysis of how fast containers fill, how often they are emptied and how each location is really used. On that basis collection can be planned better, its frequency adjusted and fleet work optimised.

Access control — SAC and MultiLock

  • the time of every opening and the identifier of the card or device used,
  • the event type and the user — a resident, service staff or a rejected attempt,
  • the state of the lid once the operation finishes,
  • the number of openings per waste fraction — on MultiLock,
  • battery voltage and signal strength,
  • alarms and events that need attention, such as a low battery.

Fill-level sensor — Bin Sensor

  • the fill level of the container,
  • signal strength,
  • battery voltage,
  • temperature,
  • device position — normal or tilt, meaning the container has been tipped or knocked over.

AI-supported data analysis

Fleet data only becomes valuable when it can be turned into meaningful insights. iCober Cloud can support operators in interpreting that data — identifying behaviour that differs from typical patterns and highlighting which locations or devices are worth looking at first.

The analysis can cover areas such as fill-level trends at individual locations, unusual patterns of container usage, and changes in device status over time. Instead of going through dozens of charts, the operator receives a concise summary of the most important observations and an indication of which areas may require attention.

AI does not make decisions for the operator. Its findings are recommendations, while decisions about collections, access permissions or servicing remain with the operator.

The scope of the analysis can be tailored to each deployment, depending on the data available in the system and the operator's specific needs.

Security and data protection

Security is part of the architecture of iCober Cloud — from how devices communicate to how data is accessed and the platform is managed.

  • Encrypted communication — devices talk to the cloud over encrypted connections, and the operator panel and the API use HTTPS.
  • Device authentication — the platform accepts data only from authenticated devices.
  • Event logging — significant operations and security events are recorded and available for later analysis.
  • Security testing — the platform undergoes periodic penetration testing; findings are analysed and fixed.
  • Data minimisationiCober Cloud can run on identifiers of users and access credentials, without storing their names or other directly identifying data.
  • Customer separation and permissions — every customer works in a separate space, and access to data and features follows the user's role.
Details on security and data processing

Linking an identifier to a particular person can stay within the customer's own system. That lets the customer limit what is passed to iCober Cloud and adapt the processing to their own organisation.

The exact way data is processed is agreed for each deployment, taking into account the scope of the system and the obligations arising from the GDPR.

Every customer works in their own separate space in iCober Cloud. One customer's data is not available to another. Access to data and features is assigned to users according to their role and permissions.

API — integration with your system

The Online version exposes data over an API, so iCober can be integrated with the software you already use.

The API can expose information about devices, containers, users and openings, along with fill-level data if the device carries the relevant sensor.

The data can be pulled by the customer's system and used in an analytics platform, a billing system or an in-house panel. You do not have to build a separate system around our devices — we can send the data directly to the system you already have.

iCober Cloud can also work as a middle layer between iCober devices and the customer's system. In that model the existing software stays unchanged, while iCober Cloud handles communication with the devices and passes data into the customer's system.
