Monitoring the fill level of containers
iCober Bin Sensor is a wireless fill-level sensor for monitoring waste containers.
It uses Time-of-Flight (ToF) technology to measure the distance between the sensor and the surface of the waste. From that measurement the system determines the fill level, and the data is sent on over an NB-IoT or LTE-M cellular network in LPWA (Low-Power Wide-Area) technology.
The sensor needs no power supply run to it and no extra infrastructure built at the container. Battery power allows up to 10 years of operation, depending on the configuration, the measurement interval and the working conditions.
Bin Sensor can therefore also be fitted where running cables or having permanent access to power would be impractical.
Remote fill monitoring
Fill-level measurements are sent automatically to iCober Cloud or, depending on the configuration, to a nominated system or the customer's own cloud. The operator can therefore check the current status of individual containers and locations remotely.
For each container you can set fill thresholds and notifications. The system can then flag an approaching overflow and make collection easier to plan.
The measurement history shows how the fill level changes over time. That allows analysis of how the containers are used and a better match between collection frequency and real need.
One sensor, different uses
Bin Sensor can be used in containers of various types and sizes. It suits monitoring single containers as well as larger systems, where checking their fill level by hand would be time-consuming.

Data and analytics
iCober Bin Sensor uses hardware from a specialist manufacturer, which we configure and integrate with iCober Cloud. That way the sensor data sits in the same system as access control and the other iCober devices.
Every measurement goes into the history. In iCober Cloud you can follow how fast the containers fill up, check the state of the devices and plan collections from data.
