Fill-level monitoring and access control — Vinkovci, Croatia
Fill-level measurement across the whole network, access control only where it solved a real problem. Not every container needs a lock.
The Vinkovci deployment covers 39 fill-level sensors and 4 access control readers in the Online variant, fitted to semi-underground containers across the city.
The video loads only after you click — your browser then connects to Google, which receives your IP address and may store data on your device.
First know, then close
That split shows how such a project is worth approaching. The operator first wanted to know what was happening across the network — which points fill quickly and which ones the truck visits unnecessarily. That is a job for sensors: simple to fit, and changing nothing about how residents use the containers day to day.
Access control was applied where it solved a specific problem, not to every container. The system was therefore matched to the operator's real needs instead of complicating the whole deployment.
What measurement at this scale gives
Across forty points, the collection route stops being purely a matter of schedule and becomes a matter of data. The panel shows which containers need collecting and which can still wait, so the operator can plan routes better and cut unnecessary trips.
